Do you know how to start a fire in a Woodstove? Long-stem matches are perfect for starting fires in wood burning stoves. Open the stove pipe damper before starting a fire. If the fire burns too slowly, the draft levers should be opened wider. Adjusting the draft with the damper and adding frequent but small amounts of wood make an even burning and continuous fire. Watching the temperature gauge on a Magnetic Stove Thermometer attached to stovepipe shows you how much heat your furnace is producing.

The time you have left in jelly beans

If you've been to our store you know we love jelly beans.
Jelly beans are the perfect treat for any season.
They make people happy.
In the video, this guy just convinced us in jelly beans to live our life to the fullest.

We're excited for the shooting fireballs this weekend.

Star date says, "The next meteor shower is the Perseids on the nights of August 11 and 12. At its best, under dark skies, you might see a score or so “shooting stars” per hour. The Moon sets by late evening."

The USA today reminded readers, "Put out the lawn chair, set the alarm and maybe bring something to wet your whistle while you gaze into the nighttime sky — the year's best shooting star show has started.August's annual Perseids meteor shower peaks Sunday and Monday, promising perhaps 70 meteors an hour those evenings

'The Perseids are the good ones,' says meteorite expert Bill Cooke of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.

The Perseids take their name from their apparent origin in the constellation Perseus, the hero of ancient Greek myth born from a shower of heavenly gold. Known for producing fireballs that might streak across a third of the sky, they owe their brilliance to the speed — nearly 134,000 mph — with which they smack into the upper atmosphere.

Watch them at the Galax fiddlers convention this weekend!

Or go camping with your family! We've got the camping gear you need.
