Summer Projects: Do you Have the Right Tools to Maintain Your Home?

A toolbox that is properly stocked will come in handy for many home projects and regular home maintenance situations.

So what should be in your toolbox?

Claw Hammer - this is the most common hammer, it can be used to pull and drive nails.

Screw Drivers - you will want to have phillips head and flat head screw drivers in a few different sizes to be used in home projects.

Needle Nose Pliers w/Wire Cutters: this nice two-in-one tool is great for electrical jobs.

Adjustable Wrench - this tool will come in handy for when you need to work on pipes or different size nuts and/or bolts. A medium size will suit home needs best.

Drill & Drill Bits - Be sure you choose a good quality drill that will last, and one that is appropriate for the type of projects you will be using it for.

Assorted nails, screws, washers, etc.

Handsaw - a handsaw will come in handy for small projects that need some wood to be cut. However, for a more heavy duty job it would be wise to look into a table saw or other electric saw.

Measuring Tape: many people don't realize how important having measuring tape in their toolbox is, until they need to measure something.

Level: a level is ideal for any building project, or just for hanging pictures.

Paint Brushes - several different size paint brushes can come in handy for touch up projects or general painting projects.

Safety Goggles - protect your eyes during projects.

Work Gloves - protect your hands during projects.

These are just ideas to get you started, some projects will need different tools than the ones we have listed for you. This is just to get you started in building your Home Owner's Toolbox.
