Spring/Summer Project - Painting

Many people find themselves doing some painting in the spring. Whether it is to freshen up the look of their home, to cover exterior paint that is chipping, or just to change the look of something, there are usually several paint projects to be found in the warmer months of the year. So if you are looking at a painting project here are a few pointers for you:

You will want to start by deciding what color you will be using. Then pick your paint. Choose your preferred sheen of paint. Several paint companies now offer small paint jars for you to test the color before you dedicate yourself to it. If you want to do this, you can take the tester home to test the color on your wall of choice.

So now you have your paint, what else are you going to need in order to accomplish your painting project?
Before you begin painting you will want to wash down the walls and prime them. When painting, be sure you have flooring, furniture, and anything else that you do not want the paint to get onto covered with a drop cloth. Also be sure to wear either old clothes or paint clothes so that you do not ruin anything you would want to keep nice. Tape off areas that you do not want paint on, such as window sills, trim, cabinet edges, etc. Be sure to use painter's tape to keep from damaging the areas the tape is on. Once you begin painting, it is recommended to roll on the paint in a W shape for the best finished result.
